If you're up to do a lot of work for free, check-out this opportunity!
I'd only participate for a free copy of Windows 7 at the end of the test period but Microsoft isn't offering that!! |

...and this is what scares me:
"Note: The backup methods described here do not preserve installed programs—only data. To avoid interruption, you’ll need to rebuild your test machine using a non-expired version of Windows before the Beta and RC expiration dates. Windows will notify you that the expiration process is beginning and two weeks later your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. The Beta expires on August 1, 2009, and bi-hourly shutdowns will begin July 1, 2009. The RC will expire June 1, 2010, and the bi-hourly shutdowns will begin on March 1, 2010. In both cases, you’ll need to rebuild your test PC to replace the OS and reinstall all your programs and data."
Thinking I'll just skip this and buy the final version of Windows 7 when it's released!! |

Me too -- have no desire to let Microsoft take over my computer for nothing!!!
Can't believe anyone would go for such a one-sided deal!!

With the speculation on the web indicating high prices for the upcoming Windows 7, thought I'd get familiar with Ubuntu.
Downloaded the ISO file, verified the checksum, and burned the CD and will be running it from the CD to try it out.
If all goes well, I'll install Ubuntu to dual-boot with Windows XP on the bedroom computer and to replace Windows ME on the Lakehouse computer! |
